Of Special Note

I have traveled to Ghana, West Africa twice now, to study the music of the Ewe, Dagara, and Ga people with the Agbeli family and Bernard Woma. I plan on continuing my studies there and look forward to my next visit! I also traveled to Zimbabwe early in 2012 and was fortunate enough to study Mbira with one of the masters, Newton Gwara (aka 'Matemai'). I look forward to more studies with him as well!

I was a member of the Atlanta Boy Choir starting at age 5 (my first audition) and began touring in Europe every summer with them at the age of 9. As well as singing in the choir, I was also the 'little drummer boy' with them for many years. I received an amazing education on music, performance, and life from the director Fletcher Wolfe, and through my experiences as a member of the ABC. In fact, the first recording I was a part of (Benjamin Britten's War Requiem) was with the ABC and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra & Chorus and it won 2 Grammys!

In 2009 I had the good fortune of receiving the Austin Music Award for Best Drummer/Percussionist. Quite an honor in a city that's known for it's great musicians and rich musical history!
